Charing Cross Theatre may be considered not as a “traditional” London West End theatre. It was founded in 1936 as the New Players Theatre and was not always located in its present situation under The Arches, Villiers Street – which is below Charing Cross station. This site underwent a refurbishment programme in 2005 and opened in 2006. As one of the smallest, most intimate West End theatres in London it was taken over in 2011 and the name was changed to the current name.
The theatre, once a Victorian music hall now offers a wide range of entertainment including plays, musicals & comedy shows.

In addition to the 265 seat theatre Players Bar and Kitchen is an award-winning restaurant where you can dine before going to the theatre. The restaurant serves British cuisine and uses fresh, seasonal foods whenever possible. Players Bar and Kitchen is located in Villiers St, close to Embankment Station. If you wish to reserve a table or a private dining area call on 020 7930 5868.
Opening hours for the bar are 5.00pm-2.30am on Monday & Tuesday; 12pm-2.30am Wednesday – Friday; and 6.00pm-2.30am on Saturday. The Kitchen is open for food service from 5.30pm-9.00pm on Monday & Tuesday; 12pm-9.00pm Wednesday-Friday; and 5.30pm-9.00pm on Saturday.

Other Information

Monday – Saturday there is live music provided by singers/pianists in the Players Bar, from 11.00pm until close. The style of music ranges from jazz & pop, to show tunes; and if you fancy your talents you can take advantage of the “open mike” sessions. If you are lucky you may be treated to an impromptu session by some of the cast from current London musicals.
